My favourite pitch and the role i would like to do.

I really liked Ellie's idea. pitch number 12.  As it was not like an typical vampire film, it is unique with a interesting idea of using chocolates instead of fangs to poison the victims, she has a very strong story line, and personally i think i'm the kind of person that would enjoy this kind of movie if it was made. She's also given it a mysterious concept throughout the whole story.

I also liked Palwasha's pitch. as she had very strong vampire conventions that we should have in an horror movie such as; red eyes. Her idea was also very good, and interesting, due to the setting of her story- a mental institution. Not many vampire movies are based in places like this, its not typical like a club, or forest.

ROLES:
The roles i'd prefer is one of the characters-acting. As i think I'm a confident person and would perform well in this task. And also a role behind the camera, I'm aware of different camera angles, i would also like to be co-producer as i'm organised and good at getting everything together, that is needed for the task we are doing. such as props being used or people needed.

analysis of opening scene-Blade

The opening scene begins with a fast moving city, with the names of actors, directors, and film appearing and fading on the screen. The names are written in the colour red which signifiers danger and blood.   The fast non-degetic music playing makes the scene look more later, then it is.  we then see a close up shot of the two main characters in a car, at this point the camera is also showing speed in the scene as everything in the background is unforcued. The lowkie lighting shows us the genre is either thriller or horror. When they walk through the room of the dead humans hanging down, it ideologies vampires, as the bodies were used by vampires to feed on, or for the needs of vampires. The only other thing this is done to his dead meats such as lamb, to forfiul our needs. The whole time the scene is fast moving, with loud non-degetic music.we can tell the man in the opening scene is an human as when he walks his way past the dead bodies he asks ' what is that?' with a shocked and confused facial expression. This suggests that the me doesn't know of anything that is happening. He is just going with what the mysterious looking girl is telling him. They then enter a club, which is an ideologies of an vampire, as many vampire films include clubs and parties, to hunt their preys. This is where the scene is slowed down to slow motion however the loud music is still playing in the back round. We see another mysterious girl in this shot many times, which makes the audience wonder who she is. The low lighting, gives it a dark, cold feeling. The scene then continues with the shower of blood pouring from the selling, this gives us an idea that if this was to be a normal human club, we would expect it to be water pouring from the ceiling, and this soon suggest that these people are vampires. This also makes us think back to the bodies of drained human we saw at the very beginning, we can now concluded that the blood has come from all those bodies. As everyone is enjoying we see the men looking all disgusted   and confused, which makes the vampires realise he's not one of them, and they all reach for him to take a bite. The music finally slightly turns down, and the men falls onto the floor in front of another man who looks quite mysterious as we only see his face, this makes the audience eager to know who he is and what he's going to do, as all the vampires have stopped dancing and look terrified. The camera slowly goes up, this is where we see the mans bodies, all armed and dressed in black. we can tell the vampires are all scared as they move back, the scene again lifts up speed. we see the fight between vampires and the vampire hunter, this makes the audience realise why everyone was moving back. When the vampires get shot, they would turn into littler pieces and fly everywhere, this gave it a supernatural feel to the one scene.

The Hunger and the conventions of a horror movie.

The conventions we usually expect to see in a horror movies are things such as; darkness, halloween, sleepover parties, murders, blood, knifes and something thats supernatural.
Media shows the convention of 'darkness' by having low dull lightings to give the atmosphere and cold and empty feel. They use props such as fake blood, and knifes to imply the scene of a murder.

Horror/triller vampire movies, the conventions we see crosses- religion ( projects from the evil)
capes, fangs, locations such as; the forest. seeing these in a scene, would automatically imply to the audience that this is an vampire movie.

The conventions used in this movies opening scene tells us that this is a vampire movies. we see a cross which is crafted in a shape of fangs to kill its victims. And as the men in the club brings his jacket up in a way which looks like bat wings, it suggest to us that he may be the vampire.

The orphanage

The opening scene has a slow start,as we see the three main characters adopting a child at an happy, cheerful orphange. The childlike innocene and the horror genre gives it an contrast, and makes the movies more intereting. However the opening sign doesnt play a massive role to show that it has horror conventions, because the opening is very slow. The opening sequence is very laid back and relaxed, as the movies slowly starts to reval its genre, because of the mysterious house. There are cuts and edits made in opening scene,as well as contious shot. This gives a flow to the film, as theres isnt any jump cuts and mixed pictures.

editing preliminary exercise....

we used a wide range of shots- such as close up; 180 degrees rule; over the shoulder shot.
we tired to link different types of shot, without it jumping. The goal was to continuously edit all shots together so, it runs smoothly. However there were small mistakes, such as hair difference in some scenes, and hand movements. you can not notice the these mistakes, however it can effect the scene...
we also broke the 180 degree rule in one of the scenes without knowing, therefore we cut that bit out, as we also had another scene with the 180 degree rule.

we used tool and precision editing to make everything bit of shot clear, and smooth. And we made the sounds even, so every clip has the same pitch. no high or low pitches, this bit was quite hard to do, adjusting the colour made it more interesting and it also makes the audience think why it was done that way.

How is the chicken used as a metaphore in the opening scene of city of god?

As the opening squence of ' cite of god' starts, we can qucikly identify that the genre as  action. this is signified by the exterem close up shot, of the knife being sharpend against a rock. This shows us that there would be some form of danger. The audience is then confused by what is happening bcause of the black outs between the shot. We then see a unknown man taking a photo, an close up shot, which changes into a wide shot, and the words 'cildade de dues' which basically means 'city of god' of brazilan as this is an brazilan movie. When the title appears, the viewers can tell the movie has just started.

We can see a range of shots taken while music playing in the backround. close up of the same shot, of the knife being sharpend against the role, then the camera showing us the chickens, then peeling carrots. This tell us that there is a alot of violence in this movie, as the knifes denote this. It also shows us danger. The camera goes back and forth between these scene, there is a close up shot then added, of a chickens head being sliced, this signifiys that there it death within the movie. This is shown by making the chickens a metaphore and showing its death. We see the string on the chickens leg, when he escapes. This can be a metaphore of the boy in the movie, as he runs away aways from someone.

While everyone chasing after the chicken, with weapons in their hands, such as; guns. we can see that they want to kill the chicken, this again denotes a person, as the scene looks similar to when people run after a person to kill them. The camera then cuts to a meduim continual low shot, when the chicken is running away, the audience feels as if they are running with the chicken, as the camrea is hand help, and at the same level as the chicken. This is to make the audince more involved. There comes a point where everyone stops and both the chicken and the boy are in the same postion.Trapped, between the people chasing the chicken and the police. It leads us back to the beginning where the chickens leg is tired up,its trapped from the free living, the camra around the boys neck may also be a interpretation of that. The metaphore very clear, as both chicken and boy is running away from someone, and both are in the same stiutation at the same time.
‘a picture could change my life,’. The viewer is forced to think what picture. The props used ' the camera around the boys neck' shows us the link between what is said and what is being shown. The props used are relevent to what the movie is about, most of the time it denotes a certain thing.

We can tell though this whole opening scene about who the audience might be for this movie, we can tell the movie is not made for children, because it contains a lot of strong language and violence.

Analysis of godfather-opening scene

The film begins with a pitch black screen and slow music in the backround.we then see the first words ' mario puzo's the godfather, this lets us know that the movie has just started, the text is bold and clear to read. The picture fades away and you are left with just the black screen, this makes the audinace want to know what happens next. Theres a 2 second pause, before the first scene appears. In this scene the man, in sitting in the dark and talking to someone, however we do not know who he is talking to, as we can not see annother person in the room. his accent tells us that he is italain, but his first words are ' i believe in america' this shows the audinace that although he is italian, he lives in the USA, and believe to be a citizen, a part of it. The shot that is taken is a close up shot, this is to show the audinace his facial expressions, although he is in the dark, and you can not really see him properly. the camera then moves slowly backwards giving us a medium lenght shot, this make it look like that the man is talking to the viewer, as in telling his story, but as theres a camera shot of over the shoulder, there is another person close up in the frame, and the audiance relaise that he talking to someone else, sharing his story rather then talking to the audiance. As at first it looks like that the man is talking to the audiance this gets them intressted as they feel involved.

analysis of opening scene: limitless

The movie starts with names of the prodution and directors, producers of the movie. the first effect of sound you hear is an loud  banging noise, and then a mintue after a man talking, but finshes with only a sentence. The banging noise makes the audiance think whats going on, as there is no image, and the screen is black. First cut is made in the film as the image of the door appears. As the camera then starts showing around the empty room with boxes, and banging, drill noises could be heard in the backround, as well as faded voices of people talkingThe second cut is made as the rooms change, from the piano one, to the boxed one, and back to the door. This is when the speech starts of the same men, that spoke at the beginning, when the image first appeared. When the speech starts it puts a trill in the audiance, about the movie.
Close up shot is taken of computer screens and CCTV's, which makes the audiance have a fair idea of what the movie might be about.. keeping close eye, as the computer screen shows a video of CCTV. The image fades and shows us annother image, of dead men lying on the floor. this puts an confusion to the audiance's minds, of what must have happend to those men. it also tells us that the real movie is about to start, and we would find out all the reasons behind what had happend to the mens lying on the floor, and the drills, banging noises. The man that was giving the speech ends it with saying 'well i'll tell you one thing' showing us that  the story is about him, the main story begins. The speech makes the audiance pay attention, aslo draws attention to whats happening. The music starts and everything fast moving, we then see the man who gave the speech, standing on the edge of the terrace. it brings many questions to our minds. He then again starts talking, and draws atttention. suddendly there is a shock the gets the audiance, as there is gunshots from next door. we see this from the view of the main character. ' my neighbour' is then said which lets us know that this is the reason why he wants to end his life, but yet again he also says ' i wont let them get me' telling us that maybe he would rather kill him self, then face them. however we do not know who he is talking about.

opening scene- children of men (2006)

Analysis of opening scene- children of men (2006)

- Is based in the future although it's old. showing us that this is what it london will look like, polluted, dull and dusty.
- The sense opens with a speech of the new reporter, with a black screen. this is useful as it makes the audiance pay attention to what is being said.
- The TV shows us a image of ' baby diego'  born in 2009. it tells us that this was the future, as the film was made three years before the date in the film (2006), also the date on the screen shown (2027) does not match the one we live in, therefore it automatically shows us that they live in the future, and the story is also based on the future.
Mice en scenes
- Seeing the aged people at the opening, and the TV reporter talking bout the youngest person who's eighteen, getting stabbed shows us that there is will hardly be any young people in the future. the look on the faces in the opening is upset and worried, which shows us that they're not happy, disappointed.
 Editing
- There is a continue cutting in the opening scene, the first cut is done when the black screen changes to picture.
- Second cut is made when it changes from the picture of the peoples faces to the TV.
 Camera
- The camera is at angle ( close up shot and the pitcure appears) of the faces of people, so you can see the clear picture of their worried faces. as well as that the shot is taken for a high point, as though its the point of view the TV.
